In a session marked by tension, the JMM-led alliance in Jharkhand urged swift action against the opposition leader, Amar Bauri, alleging he disrespected Speaker Rabindra Nath Mahto during a budget debate. The incident has sparked a row, with ruling party members demanding an apology while the BJP defends Bauri's right to free speech.
The controversy ignited when Congress MLA Pradip Yadav raised the issue, supported by JMM's Sudivya Kumar. Yadav called Bauri's actions contempt of the House, insisting on punitive measures to avoid recurrence. Bauri, however, maintained his stance, expressing respect for the Speaker and condemning any attempts to stifle his voice.
JMM's Sudivya Kumar also criticized Bauri, urging an apology not just to the House but to the people of Jharkhand. Amid the uproar, Speaker Mahto emphasized the need for respectful conduct. The session proceeded with question hour after an intense debate, including a discussion on the Jal Jeevan Mission's progress and a BJP protest against unmet government promises.
