Rahul Gandhi, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Congress general secretary, will visit the landslide-devastated Wayanad on Wednesday morning, according to party sources.
The landslides, triggered by heavy rainfall on Tuesday in the hilly district, resulted in 57 deaths and extensive damage, including destroyed homes, swollen water bodies, and uprooted trees.
While extending condolences, Congress leaders Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi, along with Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge, urged United Democratic Front (UDF) workers to assist the affected region. Rahul Gandhi, who previously represented Wayanad, has coordinated with Kerala's Chief Minister and the district collector to ensure the efficiency of ongoing rescue operations.
