Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Tuesday called on Israel not to fall into the 'trap' of retaliation, expressing deep concern over the situation in Lebanon and potential regional escalation.

Speaking during an official visit to China, Meloni stressed that the international community must continue to send messages of moderation.

She noted that China, due to its strong relationships with Iran and Saudi Arabia, could significantly contribute to these peace efforts.
