On Monday, Donald Trump's campaign announced that the Republican presidential candidate would attend a question-and-answer session at the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) annual convention in Chicago this week. This move comes as Trump attempts to court Black voters, with some polls indicating he may be gaining ground within this demographic. Trump will engage with political journalists in front of registered attendees on Wednesday.

While the event is closed to the public, it will be livestreamed on NABJ's YouTube and Facebook pages, according to a statement from NABJ. 'We look forward to our attendees hearing from former President Trump on the critical issues our members and their audiences care about most,' said NABJ president Ken Lemon.

He added that the event would give Black journalists the opportunity to 'ask the tough questions that will provide the truthful answers Black Americans want and need to know.' The Trump campaign's statement indicated that the focus would be on pressing issues facing the Black community.

The NABJ also announced that Vice President Kamala Harris, another presidential candidate, was invited to the convention but her participation is yet to be confirmed.
