External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar highlighted the Quad's role in ensuring a free and open Indo-Pacific and a rules-based order. The Quad, consisting of Australia, India, Japan, and the US, is focused on generating practical outcomes in areas such as disaster relief, maritime security, and climate initiatives.
External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar emphasized the Quad's role in promoting a free and open Indo-Pacific and a rules-based international order in a volatile world during a Quad Foreign Ministers press conference on Monday.
Jaishankar clarified that the Quad, which includes Australia, India, Japan, and the United States, is a platform that delivers practical results rather than just discussions. Key initiatives include Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief, maritime security, and off-grid solar projects in the Indo-Pacific islands.
Since its formation in November 2017, the Quad has aimed to secure crucial Indo-Pacific sea routes. China has conflicting maritime claims with several regional nations in the South China Sea and the East China Sea, adding complexity to the region's dynamics.
