President Murmu Appoints New Governors Across Indian States

President Droupadi Murmu accepts Banwarilal Purohit's resignation and appoints new governors and administrators for various Indian states and Union Territories. Gulab Chand Kataria is now the Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, along with other significant appointments across the country.

President Droupadi Murmu has accepted the resignation of Banwarilal Purohit from his roles as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. The president also announced a series of new gubernatorial appointments nationwide.

Gulab Chand Kataria, previously the Governor of Assam, has been appointed as the new Governor of Punjab and also as the Administrator of Chandigarh. Other notable appointments include Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde as the Governor of Rajasthan, Jishnu Dev Varma for Telangana, Om Prakash Mathur for Sikkim, and Santosh Kumar Gangwar for Jharkhand.

Further appointments see Ramen Deka becoming the Governor of Chhattisgarh and CH Vijayashankar as the Governor of Meghalaya. In addition, C.P. Radhakrishnan, who was serving as the Governor of Jharkhand with additional charge of Telangana, has been appointed as the Governor of Maharashtra.

Lakshman Prasad Acharya, the current Governor of Sikkim, has been reassigned as the Governor of Assam and given additional charge of the Governor of Manipur. According to an official release, these appointments will take effect from the dates the appointees assume their respective offices.
