Samajwadi Party MP from Uttar Pradesh's Kairana, Iqra Munawwar Hasan, called for the Railway Ministry to commence direct train services linking Shamli with Prayagraj and Vaishno Devi, spotlighting the lack of facilities in her constituency.
"Our district, formed 10 years ago from parts of Muzaffarnagar, currently lacks several essential services, including effective rail transport. The introduction of a rail line connecting Haryana and Western UP would greatly benefit our region," Hasan noted.
During her maiden Lok Sabha speech on Friday, Hasan reiterated the demand for rail connectivity among Shamli, Prayagraj, and Vaishno Devi. Winning Kairana with a margin of 69,116 votes against BJP's Pradeep Kumar, Hasan's party, SP, emerged as the single largest party in Uttar Pradesh Lok Sabha polls with 37 seats. SP Chief Akhilesh Yadav and Dimple Yadav also secured victories in Kannauj and Mainpuri, respectively, contributing to a 33.59 per cent vote share. Conversely, the BJP secured only 33 seats, significantly lower than its 2019 tally, losing key constituencies like Faizabad, Amethi, and Raebareli.
