Prime Minister Modi's Kargil War Memorial Visit and Shinkun La Tunnel Project
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Kargil War Memorial on July 26, 2024, to honor the fallen soldiers of the Kargil War. He will also virtually initiate the first blast of the Shinkun La Tunnel Project, set to be the world’s highest tunnel, enhancing connectivity and development in Ladakh.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the Kargil War Memorial on July 26, 2024, to pay tribute to the brave soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the Kargil War, according to a statement from his office on Thursday.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will virtually oversee the commencement of the Shinkun La Tunnel Project's first blast. This infrastructure endeavor includes a 4.1-kilometer twin-tube tunnel situated at an altitude of approximately 15,800 feet along the Nimu-Padum-Darcha road, designed to offer all-weather access to Leh.
The completion of the Shinkun La Tunnel will set a new record as the highest tunnel globally. Its construction aims to facilitate the swift movement of military personnel and equipment while also spearheading economic and social growth in the Ladakh region.
