The opposition BJP and JD(S) held an all-night protest in both Houses of the Karnataka Legislature. They demanded a discussion on the alleged fraudulent allotment of sites to land losers by Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA), which also involved plots given to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah's wife.
The BJP and JD(S) legislators stayed overnight in the Assembly and Council, staging demonstrations with placards and raising slogans -- in the form of ''bhajans'' -- against the Congress government, Siddaramaiah, and Speaker U T Khader for not allowing a discussion.
Opposition leaders, including Leader of Opposition in the Assembly R Ashoka, and BJP state President and MLA B Y Vijayendra, stayed overnight in Assembly premises. They vowed to continue their protest on Thursday. The MUDA is alleged to have allotted compensatory sites to Siddaramaiah's wife, Parvathi, and other supporters under a controversial scheme, which the opposition claims has deep political motives behind it.
