On Wednesday, opposition MPs staged a walkout in the Lok Sabha to protest what they claim is discrimination against opposition-ruled states in the Union Budget.
The protest began as soon as the House convened, with opposition members attempting to raise concerns over budgetary allocations.
Amid raised slogans, Speaker Om Birla cautioned opposition members against disrupting the Question Hour, urging all to adhere to parliamentary traditions.
Birla criticized the opposition for allegedly disrupting the House proceedings in a 'planned manner.'
Both Speaker Birla and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju noted that MPs faced difficulties entering Parliament due to ongoing protests on its steps. Several members have reportedly written to Birla highlighting this issue.
As their concerns were not allowed to be voiced on the floor, the opposition members ultimately walked out in protest.
