Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan (Lalan) Singh voiced his satisfaction with the Union Budget 2024, pointing out the wide-ranging packages allocated for Bihar. According to Singh, the budget encompasses numerous schemes aimed at enhancing infrastructure, tourism, and irrigation in the state. 'The abundance of packages will significantly bolster Bihar's growth rate once implemented,' Singh remarked.

Taking a swipe at former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi's remark on the budget, Singh questioned her understanding of budgetary matters. Adding to this, Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar stated that the state government had persistently requested either a special status or package, and the new budget marks the beginning of this process.

'I have consistently advocated for a special status or package for Bihar,' said Kumar. 'While the provision for special status has been discontinued, the central aid now being provided will aid our development activities.' He highlighted the progress since November 2005 and stressed that central support would further enhance the state's development initiatives.

Kumar also highlighted improvements in road infrastructure and educational facilities, pointing out the increased safety and vibrancy in Patna. The Union Budget's announcements on boosting infrastructure and financial support were echoed by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who underscored the focus on human resource development and economic opportunities across Eastern India.

In her budget speech, Sitharaman mentioned significant projects such as the Amritsar-Kolkata industrial corridor and various expressway constructions in Bihar. New power projects, airports, medical colleges, and sports infrastructure would also be developed, along with expedited external assistance for flood control and temple corridor developments.
