On Sunday, Swami Sri Govindananda Saraswati Maharaj of the Jyotirmath Trust vehemently criticized Swami Avimukteshwaranand, labeling him a 'fake baba' and accusing him of receiving backing from the Congress party. Maharaj pointed out that prominent figures including the Prime Minister and industrialist Ambani have acknowledged Avimukteshwaranand, whom he insisted is not a genuine sadhu, sant, or sanyasi.

Addressing a press conference, Maharaj highlighted a Varanasi Court order that issued a non-bailable arrest warrant against Avimukteshwaranand, describing him as an absconder. He claimed that Avimukteshwaranand had hidden in Madhya Pradesh and subsequently filed legal cases against them. Maharaj expressed frustration over the delays in Supreme Court proceedings and demanded justice.

Further, Maharaj accused Avimukteshwaranand of serious crimes including kidnapping and murder. He dismissed Avimukteshwaranand's claims about stolen gold from Kedarnath and accused him of misrepresenting facts for political gain, asserting that Congress, with figures like Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is playing a role in his support. Maharaj announced intentions to file a contempt case if Gandhi does not issue a public apology.

Maharaj also detailed Avimukteshwaranand's alleged strategy to escape media scrutiny during court appearances and emphasized his criminal record, marked by fines and anticipatory bail. Maharaj concluded by condemning Avimukteshwaranand's deceitful behavior and questioned his credibility as a religious leader.
