Tamil Nadu Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin on Saturday played down reports of his possible elevation as Deputy Chief Minister, asserting that the decision rests with Chief Minister M K Stalin.

Speaking to reporters, Udhayanidhi maintained that all state ministers and DMK office bearers are functioning as deputies to the chief minister. He reiterated his dedication to his role as the Youth Welfare and Sports Development Minister and the Youth Wing secretary, which he holds dear.

Party organizing secretary R S Bharathi expressed support for Udhayanidhi's elevation, noting it as a potential advantage for the party in the 2026 Assembly elections. However, he clarified that the final decision lies with the chief minister.
