In an overt critique of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Rajasthan BJP chief C P Joshi alleged that individuals who ''consume beef'' should not display images of Lord Shiva in Parliament.
The comments, made at a party meeting in Dausa on Wednesday, have since circulated widely on social media.
Referring to Gandhi's stance during the India-China border tensions and his interactions with the Chinese ambassador, Joshi declared, "One who consumes beef brings a picture of Mahadev to Parliament. This cannot be tolerated."
Joshi further targeted Gandhi without naming him, questioning if Hindus would remain silent while being labeled as terrorists and violent, and opposing the Ram Mandir project. He also condemned the mockery of President Droupadi Murmu for her skin color.
On July 1, Gandhi had displayed images of Lord Shiva and other religious leaders in Parliament, invoking teachings against fear and violence as part of his speech during the debate on the President's Address.
Gandhi accused BJP leaders of dividing communities, stating that even Lord Shiva advocates for fearlessness and non-violence, contrary to BJP's actions.
