Rebel Akali leaders on Monday launched the 'Shiromani Akali Dal Sudhar Lehar', a movement aimed at strengthening and revitalizing the 103-year-old party. They asserted that the party's current state under the existing leadership threatens its very existence.

These leaders have appointed former MLA Gurpartap Singh Wadala as the movement's convener. Wadala called for support from Punjabis and pro-panth people, critiquing current party chief Sukhbir Singh Badal for introducing a corporate culture that has alienated the party's base.

The rebels plan to reconnect with expelled leaders who still align with SAD's ideology and honor the anniversaries of key figures like Gurcharan Singh Tohra and Harchand Singh Longowal. They argue that implementing the Jhunda committee's recommendations could have prevented the current leadership crisis.
