Imran Khan's Legal Battles: Relief Amidst Fresh Charges
Despite receiving recent judicial relief, former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan's troubles continue as he faces new terrorism charges. His conviction in un-Islamic marriage and corruption cases was overturned, but he remains in jail due to fresh allegations. His party, PTI, stands strong amidst the turmoil.
Despite back-to-back judicial relief for beleaguered former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan, his woes are far from over as he remained in jail on Sunday with fresh cases, including terrorism charges, filed against him.
A district and session court on Saturday overturned his conviction in an un-Islamic marriage case. The relief followed a Supreme Court ruling declaring his PTI party eligible for seats in the national and provincial assemblies.
However, subsequent developments, including new terrorism charges related to May 9 riots, have kept Khan behind bars. He faces multiple allegations, including corruption and abetment in violent attacks, leading to an arduous legal battle with no respite in sight.
