Kiren Rijiju Announces Major Development Initiatives in Kargil

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju visited Kargil on Sunday, praising the Centre for its efforts that have benefited the area. Rijiju emphasized the future potential of development in various sectors, along with preserving cultural heritage. 'I am visiting Kargil for the first time since becoming a minister. Under PM Modi's leadership, efforts are directed towards the development of minorities. The government's work has evidently benefited the people of Kargil,' he stated.
During his visit, Rijiju announced significant development initiatives aimed at improving the socio-economic status of minorities in Ladakh. Key announcements included the establishment of a cultural centre and an educational institution. Additionally, he handed over financial sanction of Rs 10 crore under the NMDFC for Ladakh. Rijiju also mentioned considering the proposal for introducing Ziyarat tours for Shia Muslims, modeled on the Hajj pilgrimage. He later attended Muharram Majalis at Jamiyat Ul Ulama Isna Ashria, Kargil, and interacted with local leaders.
Meanwhile, the budget session of Parliament is scheduled from July 22 to August 12. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the union budget for 2024-25 on July 23. This budget, the first of the BJP-led NDA government's fresh term, is expected to be significant, with Prime Minister Modi previously stating that the third term will focus on writing bold new chapters. The first session of Parliament after the formation of the 18th Lok Sabha was contentious, with clashes between the opposition and the government on various issues, including the NEET-UG examination row.
