K P Sharma Oli, the chairman of the CPN-UML and known for his pro-China stance, has been appointed as Nepal's Prime Minister for the fourth time. This appointment marks the beginning of a new coalition government tasked with stabilizing the nation politically.

Oli, aged 72, takes over from Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda, who failed to secure a vote of confidence in the House of Representatives. Under Article 76 (2) of the Constitution, President Ram Chandra Paudel officially appointed Oli, with the support of the Nepali Congress, the largest party in Parliament.

A swearing-in ceremony for Oli is set for Monday at 11 am at Shital Niwas. Oli's rise to Prime Minister was backed by signatures from 165 House of Representatives members, 77 from his CPN-UML party and 88 from the Nepali Congress. The new government formation was finalized after Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and Oli agreed on a seven-point deal, which involves sharing the remaining term of Parliament in two phases.
