In a politically charged visit to Mumbai, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has set the stage for the upcoming Maharashtra assembly elections. Modi announced a slew of schemes worth Rs 29,400 crore and faced sharp criticism from Shiv Sena (UBT) spokesperson Anand Dubey, who suggested that the BJP is poised for a tough electoral battle in the state.
'There are still two to three months left for the assembly elections in Maharashtra, but the respected Prime Minister has already started delivering election speeches,' remarked Dubey. He criticized Modi for announcing huge schemes and claimed dubious job creation numbers. 'It's surprising that no one knows who got these jobs—whether humans or ghosts,' he added.
During his Mumbai visit, Modi was welcomed by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Deputy Chief Ministers Devendra Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar at the NESCO Exhibition Centre in Goregaon. This marked Modi's first visit to Mumbai since taking oath for his third term. Significant projects launched included the Goregaon Mulund Link Road Project, the Kalyan Yard Remodelling, and the Gati Shakti Multi-Modal Cargo Terminal in Navi Mumbai.
Prime Minister Modi also inaugurated new platforms at Lokmanya Tilak Terminus and extended Platforms No. 10 and 11 at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus Station, which will improve passenger capacity. Additionally, he introduced the Mukhyamantri Yuva Karya Prashikshan Yojana, a transformative internship program aimed at reducing youth unemployment.
