Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi on Saturday asserted that several sitting BJP MLAs from Assam have approached him and other senior leaders for joining the Congress. The final decision will be made during the party's forthcoming political affairs meeting.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma responded dismissively, stating that in politics, 'coming and going happen,' predicting that 'no one' will be left in Congress before the 2026 assembly elections.

Bordoloi, during a press conference, mentioned that while many BJP MLAs have shown interest, not all will be inducted given their past behavior towards Congress. He highlighted ongoing internal conflicts within the BJP, pinpointing clashes between old and new members.

The senior Congress leader emphasized that these matters will be deliberated extensively in their upcoming meeting. Despite speculations, Bordoloi did not reveal any names wanting to switch sides.

Chief Minister Sarma countered by recalling the numerous Congress leaders who joined BJP, arguing for equal media attention on such transitions, and forecasting Congress's diminishing presence before the next elections.
