BJP's Ashish Sharma Clinches Victory in Hamirpur Bypolls
Ashish Sharma of BJP has won the bypolls for the Hamirpur assembly seat in Himachal Pradesh, narrowly defeating Congress candidate Pushpender Verma by 1,571 votes. Despite this victory, BJP only secured one of the three seats contested, with Congress winning Dehra and Nalagarh. Sharma's win margin has decreased significantly since the 2022 elections.

Ashish Sharma of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged victorious in the bypolls for the Hamirpur assembly seat in Himachal Pradesh, defeating his closest competitor, Congress candidate Pushpender Verma, by a margin of 1,571 votes, according to officials.
While the BJP secured only the Hamirpur constituency, the Congress, the ruling party in Himachal Pradesh, won the Dehra and Nalagarh seats. In this election, Sharma received 27,041 votes, whereas Verma garnered 25,470 votes.
Notably, Sharma's winning margin has decreased significantly compared to the 2022 assembly elections, where, as an Independent candidate, he had defeated Verma by 12,899 votes. The Hamirpur district is notable, being the home district of Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu and the parliamentary constituency of BJP leader Anurag Thakur.
