Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Friday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of prioritizing PR over addressing critical economic issues, as citizens demand accountability in light of the June Lok Sabha poll results.

Kharge criticized Modi for holding budget meetings under the media's glare while neglecting the country's economic problems. In a Hindi post on X, Kharge listed the government's failures, including a 9.2% unemployment rate impacting youth and rising to 40% for those aged 20-24.

Kharge also cited broken promises on farmers' income and MSP, job losses in government sectors, and declines in manufacturing and private investment. He highlighted inflation's impact on essential goods, declining household savings, and increasing economic inequality and unemployment in rural areas. Kharge stressed that the public now demands accountability from Modi's government.
