Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has launched a scathing attack on the opposition concerning the Worli hit-and-run incident. According to Shinde, the opposition does nothing beyond blaming. He stated, 'The opposition just blames, they do not have anything else to do apart from blaming... I have given instructions that whoever the culprit in the hit-and-run case is, he will not be spared. Strict action will be taken.'
Reacting to the suspension of accused Rajesh Shah from the party, Shinde remarked, 'The priority should be the action being taken against the accused and to support the victim...' In a recent development, a Mumbai court has remanded Mihir Shah, the primary suspect in the Worli hit-and-run case, to police custody until July 16.
Mihir Shah was arrested from Virar on Tuesday and was presented at Sewri court in Mumbai on Wednesday. The car he was allegedly driving collided with a scooter on Dr. Annie Besant Road in Worli on Sunday, July 7. The Mumbai police formed fourteen teams to apprehend him. The police also arrested Rajrishi Singh Bidawat and Mihir's father, Rajesh Shah, for their alleged roles in the incident.
Following the tragic event, the deceased woman's husband, Pradeep Nakhwa, criticized the delay in arresting the accused. Nakhwa alleged that his wife was dragged from Ceejay House to Sea Link Road due to 'politics' and claimed that the arrest was delayed because the suspect is the son of a political leader.
In an exclusive interview with ANI, Nakhwa described the incident: 'We were on our daily routine, as we are fishermen, and as part of our daily routine, on Sunday at 4 am, we were returning through the Peddar Road from the fish hatchery after buying fish. We were riding slowly at a speed of 35-40 km/hr on the side of the road. Suddenly, a car at high speed came and hit us; we didn't even realize how fast it was. We flew into the air and dropped on his car's bonnet.' He continued, 'When he applied the brake, I fell on the left side of the road while my wife came under the wheels of his car. He didn't stop after that; I tried to stop him, but he didn't and dragged her from Ceejay House to Sea Link Road. There was smoke from the wheels when he was dragging my wife. After the incident, he fled from the spot.'
