Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday emphasized the strength and resilience of India's democracy following the recently-concluded Lok Sabha elections. Speaking at a 'kaarykartaa abhinandan samaaroh' (thanksgiving function for party workers) in Lucknow, Singh noted that over 64 crore people cast their votes, illustrating the robust democratic engagement in the country.

Singh highlighted the victory margins, noting that 23.59 crore people voted for the BJP while 13.67 crore supported the Congress. ''For the first time in 62 years, Narendra Modi has become the prime minister for three consecutive terms,'' he said, pointing to this as a historic achievement.

He praised the works done by the BJP-led NDA government in the past decade, citing India's highest growth rate globally, increased exports, and reduced Current Account Deficit. ''Opportunities and income have both surged,'' Singh added, asserting that the development under Modi's leadership is just beginning, and the full impact will be seen in the coming years.

He also paid tribute to former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, calling the celebration of his birth centenary a ''fortunate opportunity.'' Singh, who has consecutively won the Lucknow seat for three terms, reiterated his dedication to the city's development, promising progress in the next five to ten years.
