The Trinamool Congress (TMC) has issued show cause notices to Swaraj Mandal and Tarakeswar Chakraborty, two councillors of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC), following a violent clash between their supporters in the Patuli area, resulting in injuries to one councillor.

According to a senior TMC leader, the state's party president Subrata Bakshi demanded explanations from Mandal and Chakraborty regarding the Tuesday night skirmish at the TMC office in Patuli. Swaraj Mandal, from ward number 110, sustained severe facial injuries and was treated at M R Bangur Hospital in Tollygunje.

Mandal accused followers of KMC ward number 104 councillor Tarakeswar Chakraborty of orchestrating the attack, citing his stance against illegal construction and extortion activities by Chakraborty's supporters. Party vice president Jay Prakash Majumdar asserted that the TMC leadership is taking a stern approach to any internal conflicts, as they could damage the party's reputation.
