HPCC General Secretary Rajneesh Kimta on Thursday affirmed that the Congress party is fully equipped for the impending assembly by-elections in the state, determined to counter the BJP's 'money power' with a display of unity.

In a statement released here, Kimta revealed that the Congress has appointed three key ministers as in-charges for the by-election campaigns in the Dehra, Nalagarh, and Hamirpur assembly constituencies.

The three Independent MLAs—Ashish Sharma (Hamirpur), Hoshiyar Singh (Dehra), and KL Thakur (Nalagarh)—resigned from their assembly seats on March 22, only to join the BJP the following day.

The by-elections are scheduled for July 10.

Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar has been delegated to oversee the Dehra assembly seat, while Education Minister Rohit Thakur will manage Nalagarh, and Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani will handle Hamirpur.

Congress leaders have accused nine MLAs, including six Congress rebels and the three Independent members who sided with the BJP in the Rajya Sabha polls on February 27, of being swayed by the BJP's financial influence.

Kimta pointed out that the Congress had secured four seats in recent assembly by-elections, which, according to him, indicates the public's approval of the Congress government's policies and leadership, and their rejection of the BJP's 'horse-trading' strategies.

He asserted that the Congress will face the BJP's unethical tactics with a unified front and aim to emerge victorious in the upcoming bypolls.

Notably, the BJP had also announced its in-charges for these three seats on the previous Wednesday.
