In a pivotal political development, Odisha chief minister-designate Mohan Charan Majhi paid a visit to former CM Naveen Patnaik on Wednesday, just hours before the BJP government is set to take office. Majhi formally extended an invitation to Patnaik for the swearing-in ceremony, scheduled to be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Majhi arrived at Patnaik's residence, Naveen Niwas, where he not only invited the former minister but also sought his blessings for the newly-formed BJP government in the state. 'I came to Naveen Niwas and invited former Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to attend the swearing-in ceremony. I also requested Patnaik to bless the newly formed BJP government in the state,' Majhi told reporters outside the residence.
Majhi mentioned that Patnaik assured him of his attendance at the significant event. This diplomatic outreach was preceded by a similar invitation from a five-member BJP delegation led by the state's party president, Manmohan Samal, on Tuesday.
