In a firm statement on Wednesday, JD(S) leader H.D. Kumaraswamy dismissed the possibility of Congress forming a government at the Centre. The remark came after the Election Commission announced results for 542 of the 543 Lok Sabha constituencies, with BJP emerging victorious in 240 seats while Congress secured only 99.

Speaking to reporters en route to New Delhi, Kumaraswamy revealed that the NDA constituents' meeting would be held in the national capital, where he would attend on behalf of JD(S). 'Nothing will happen,' he said confidently, addressing queries on Congress's efforts to establish the government.

Kumaraswamy, who won the Lok Sabha seat from Mandya, was joined by JD(S) candidate Mallesh Babu in victory from Kolar. However, JD(S) suffered a setback in Hassan, with their candidate Prajwal Revanna losing. The NDA acquired 19 of 28 Lok Sabha seats in Karnataka, with BJP clinching 17, an improvement from last election's 25 seats along with a party-backed independent.
