The BJP's vote share took a hit this election cycle, while the Congress and Samajwadi Party saw more favorable outcomes, as per Election Commission data released on Tuesday.

Contesting more seats this time around, the BJP's vote share fell to 36.91%, a drop of approximately 0.39 percentage points as of 6:15 PM. In contrast, the Congress improved its vote share by 2.22 percentage points, reaching 21.68%, and is on track to secure 99 seats.

In Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, the main opposition party witnessed an uplift in electoral fortunes. The Samajwadi Party, led by Akhilesh Yadav, nearly doubled its vote share in Uttar Pradesh to 4.66%. Meanwhile, West Bengal's Trinamool Congress saw a modest increase from 4.06% in the past elections to 4.25% this time.

Conversely, the Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP), led by Mayawati, experienced a decline in vote share by 1.55 percentage points to 2.07%. Southern parties also had mixed results with DMK's vote share dropping to 1.62% and TDP alongside YSR Congress party seeing marginal declines.
