Ahead of Lok Sabha elections in the country, CPI candidate from Wayanad Lok Sabha Seat Annie Raja launched a scathing attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over his candidature from the same constituency and said that the people are very disappointed with the performance of their representative (Rahul Gandhi). "People elected him with a huge majority... Sometimes they show anger because they are very disappointed with the performance of their representative, Rahul Gandhi. So it is for the people to judge," she lashed out.

She further stated that there is a lot of scope for the left front to take up the issues, whether it is the question of the human-animal conflict or the railway line. These are all issues that need to be taken up in the Parliament, not in the Kerala Assembly. "So there I think he could not come up to the expectations of the people. Rahul Gandhi hasn't even taken Wayanad's name in Parliament for five years," she added.

"What people are telling me? They are asking me very angrily will you be like him? Like him (Rahul Gandhi)? I said what happened? No, we voted for him (Rahul Gandhi) and the propaganda was he would be the Prime Minister. He could not become the PM but at least he could have taken the name of this constituency which has only four letters in Malayalam, 'Wayanad'," she slammed Rahul Gandhi. She revealed that the people of the constituency told her that Rahul Gandhi never came and stood with them even during the most difficult times and that they wanted a lasting solution to their problems.

"Even when we were passing through so many natural calamities, not even once he has taken up this issue (to the Parliament). The central government had to help the state government. But they did not. So he (Rahul Gandhi) could have intervened and he could have helped the people to come out from this tragedy in a different way," she added. (ANI)
