The United States special envoy for the Horn of Africa, Jeffrey Feltman, said on Twitter on Friday that he spoke with Sudanese Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok and stressed that the Sudanese people must be allowed to protest peacefully during the weekend.

Feltman said that as well as the prime minister, he spoke with the head of the armed forces, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, and Foreign Minister Mariam Sadiq al-Mahdi.
