University of Dar es Salaam is going to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with Moutai Group, a Chinese firm to ensure two groups are cooperating in exchange programmes in the field of research on agriculture value chain. The signing ceremony will take place followed by an exhibition in Tanzania’s Dar es Salaam.

The exhibition is going to take place in Dar es Salaam to celebrate the 55th anniversary of the Tanzania-China diplomatic relations. It is expected to witness around 60 people from China who will promote tourism, culture and business. Dubbed ‘The Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation,’ the exhibition will be graced by Mizengo Pinda, Tanzania’s ex-Prime Minister, as reported by The Citizen.

The planned exhibition is said to be just a show-off as strategic partnerships between China and Tanzania in various sectors have already deepened in the last couple of decades. The prominent business leaders from various parts of Tanzania, cabinet ministers including top officials from Chinese government and various foreign ambassadors will be attending the exhibition.

The Belt and Road Initiative is a development strategy adopted by the Chinese government involving infrastructure development and investments in 152 countries and international organizations in Europe, Asia, Middle East, Latin America and Africa.
