Zambia News and Information Services has ventured into a cooperation agreement with Anadolu Agency headquartered in Ankara, Turkey. The agreement is mainly about exchanging news and information.

Patrick Lungu, Director of Zambia News and Information Services (ZANIS) signed for ZANIS whereas Anadolu Agency’s (AA) Director General Senol Kazanci signed on behalf of the Turkish International New Agency.

Zambia’s Ambassador to Turkey, Joseph Chilengi said the signing of the Co-operation Agreement between ZANIS and AA is timely as the country like the rest of the world, is grappling with fake news that has littered cyberspace. Chilengi also said the signing of the agreement will enable ZANIS benefit from AA which is renowned world over as a credible source of news and information, as reported by Lusaka Times.

He extolled AA and ZANIS for their pivotal role in shaping the existing warm relations between Zambia and Turkey through packaging and dissemination of information of overriding public importance for the mutual benefit of two countries. “It is admirable that AA and ZANIS are part of the new order in which there is no room for fake news,” he added.
