Jammu and Kashmir government has set up 25 'smart schools' in Srinagar with libraries, science labs, smart classrooms, and other facilities. "I have not seen facilities like smart boards and projectors even in private schools, it has made studying more fun. Here the facilities are better than private schools. The environment and the teachers of the schools are also very pleasant," Mehreen Bhat, a student told ANI.

The Srinagar administration had announced that it had embarked on an ambitious project to transform government schools in the district into vibrant and competitive institutions of learning equipped with the most modern facilities. "We are now practically being taught and there is better learning. The learning is a lot better than the private schools running here," said another student.

On Jan 19, the government had announced the completion of setting up of 25 smart schools in Srinagar. The process started with the development of 25 pilot schools on modern lines, refurbishing entire school buildings, equipping them with modern infrastructure and revamping their academic structure aimed at improving their learning outcomes.
