Former Chief Justice of Madras and Kerala High Courts B Subhashan Reddy passed away here on Wednesday. He was 76. Reddy was admitted to a private hospital here due to ill-health a few days ago and the end came this morning, sources said.

Governor of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana ESL Narasimhan, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, BJP MP and former Union Minister Bandaru Dattatreya condoled the death of Reddy. Narasimhan visited the residence of Reddy and placed a wreath on the mortal remains of Reddy, a press release from Raj Bhavan said.

The Governor conveyed his sympathies and condolences to the members of the bereaved, the release said. Rao directed the Chief Secretary to conduct the funeral of Reddy with state honours, a CMO release said.

Reddy had held several important positions, including judge of the Andhra Pradesh High Court, Chief Justice of Madras and Kerala High Courts, chairman of State Human Rights Commission and Lok Ayukta. BJP MLC N Ramachander Rao, a prominent lawyer, condoled the death of Reddy and said the departed legal luminary was a mentor to judges.

The Telangana Bar Council chairman A Narasimha Reddy said Subhashan Reddy was a great humanist who was ready to help people. Subhashan Reddy's sons are also leading lawyers.
