Andhra Pradesh Seeks Centre's Nod for Textile Initiatives

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu called on Union Textiles Minister Giriraj Singh to back a National Institute of Fashion Technology campus in Amaravati and a PM MITRA Park in Chittoor district. These initiatives aim to enhance the textile industry and boost local farmers' income.

Andhra Pradesh's Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu held discussions with Union Minister Giriraj Singh, advocating for crucial textile infrastructure projects in the state. Naidu urged the establishment of a National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) campus in Amaravati and a PM MITRA Park in Chittoor.

These proposals are designed to fortify the state's textile ecosystem and create new income opportunities for local farmers. Singh assured Naidu of the Centre's full support, committing to initiatives that could transform Andhra Pradesh into a major textile hub.

Naidu emphasized the significance of developing natural fibre-based industries. By proposing fibre extraction facilities and processing units, the CM spotlighted the state's potential in fibre production from banana and bamboo, promising additional revenue for farmers.

Singh also interacted with industry stakeholders to bolster cotton production in Andhra Pradesh. He underlined the global technological shifts in the textile sector and indicated plans for strengthening the local handloom industry.
