Shiv Sena leader Neelam Gorhe on Wednesday met Central Railway Divisional Railway Manager Hiresh Meena and demanded stringent measures to enhance women's safety in light of the rape of a 14-year-old girl at Kalyan station last week.

The railway administration assured her that all dangerous and dilapidated buildings within the railway zone, often exploited by criminals, will be demolished within a month, said a release from her office.

A 21-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping the girl inside a dilapidated building on the Kalyan station premises on May 16.

Gorhe, a member of the Maharashtra Legislative Council, had visited the incident site on Monday evening and asked the railway administration to immediately demolish all dangerous, abandoned buildings within its jurisdiction to prevent such crimes. She had also met the victim's mother.
