Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0: A New Era for Water Supply in Andaman & Nicobar
The administration of Andaman and Nicobar Islands signed an MoU with the Jal Shakti ministry to implement Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0. This initiative aims to enhance rural water supply through a community-centred approach, focusing on transparency and accountability, improving the lives of rural and women populations.

The Andaman and Nicobar Islands administration is taking a significant step towards water sustainability by signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Jal Shakti ministry. This agreement aims to implement the Jal Jeevan Mission 2.0, a transformative rural water supply initiative.
In a bid to establish a transparent and community-focused model, the MoU was signed by Swati Meena Naik from the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation and Sachin Shinde, commissioner-cum-secretary of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The signing was attended by prominent figures including Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil.
Patil emphasized the mission's deep penetration into rural areas, presenting it as a people-centric movement that enhances health, dignity, and quality of life, particularly for women and rural communities. Lieutenant Governor D K Joshi noted the effective utilization of the allocated budget for the mission's initial phase by the island's administration.
