In a dramatic turn of events in north Delhi, a man was arrested for staging his own shooting. Avinash Kumar, a tenant, allegedly conspired with two associates to fabricate an attack on himself, aiming to extort money from the property owner.
Police unveiled that Kumar intended to manipulate the situation to delay his eviction. The fake attack, designed to appear as an assault by unidentified gunmen, involved shooting him in the thigh. Kumar's dramatized report to the police on May 10 triggered a probe that unraveled the concocted plot.
CCTV footage from more than 200 cameras helped trace the deliberate orchestration of the incident. Police recovered a country-made pistol and other evidence, further unraveling Kumar's scheme. His co-conspirators, Deepak Kumar and Lokesh Dahiya, were also implicated in the criminal act.
