BJP MP and former Calcutta High Court judge Abhijit Ganguly has alleged significant lapses in the CBI investigation of a rape and murder case involving a post-graduate trainee doctor at RG Kar hospital. Ganguly claims that CBI officer Seema Pahuja, who supervised the inquiry, overlooked essential aspects of the case.
After visiting the state-run hospital, Ganguly insisted that key evidence, such as a locked room on the premises potentially holding incriminating material, had been ignored. He also mentioned a staircase reportedly used to move the victim's body, which was not examined. Additionally, he accused Pahuja of suppressing a video recorded by a nurse, which allegedly has never been made public.
This controversy follows Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari's disciplinary action against senior police officers for mishandling the initial investigation. The case, which led to the conviction of Kolkata Police volunteer Sanjoy Roy, has drawn public outrage over perceived cover-ups and demands for more scrutiny into additional suspects involved.
