The Allahabad High Court has requested a counter affidavit from the Uttar Pradesh government regarding a petition to allow namaz on Bakrid near the Idgah in Kushinagar.
The two-judge bench, led by Justices Saral Srivastava and Garima Prashad, is considering the petition filed by Wajid Ali and others, which underscores the fundamental right to worship.
While the court acknowledged the right to perform namaz, it emphasized that such practices on public or restricted land require legal permission, setting further deliberations for May 21.
