Senior BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari expressed confidence on Thursday that the police investigation into the murder of his executive assistant, Chandranath Rath, is progressing well. Speaking to reporters at Barasat Hospital following Rath's post-mortem, Adhikari noted that investigators have leads and some arrests have been made.
Adhikari lauded the efforts of police, along with the CID, forensic teams, and the Special Investigation Team (SIT), indicating that the investigation is on track. He criticized the TMC government's previous handling of police cases, arguing that the police now have the liberty to solve the case effectively.
While the TMC has called for a CBI inquiry into the murder, Adhikari dismissed the need for such involvement. The incident occurred Wednesday night when bike-borne assailants intercepted Rath's vehicle near Doltala in Madhyamgram and shot him at point-blank range.
