A 25-year-old woman from Guwahati, reported missing, was discovered in Shillong, Meghalaya's capital, on Saturday. Police have dismissed initial concerns of kidnapping, instead pointing to personal and mental health struggles as her reason for travel.
The woman, a former private school teacher in Guwahati, had been missing since Friday afternoon after leaving home to claim her final paycheck. Her family sounded the alarm shortly after her unannounced departure.
Police confirmed she embarked on a self-directed journey to Shillong, approximately 100 km from Guwahati, using public transportation and withdrawing cash along the way. She was found disoriented by local traffic police near Polo Ground's SBI branch and was subsequently taken to the Sadar police station. Further inquiries are ongoing as authorities seek to understand the motives behind her actions.
