In a significant development, three railway policemen have been dismissed from service following allegations of extortion from a jeweller at Mumbai Central station.
The dismissed officers, identified as assistant sub-inspector Lalit Jagtap and constables Rahul Bhosle and Anil Rathod, reportedly demanded money after finding gold and cash in the jeweller's possession.
Failure to adhere to standard operating procedures and maintaining transparency led the railway police commissioner to remove the officers for undisciplined conduct, tarnishing the force's image.
