A butcher in Maharashtra's Thane district is under investigation for reportedly flouting a meat sale prohibition on Mahavir Jayanti, officials disclosed on Thursday.
The accused, a 36-year-old from Bhiwandi's Bhoiwada area, allegedly continued selling meat on Tuesday despite the government-mandated ban, as observed by a patrolling police unit.
A First Information Report (FIR) has been lodged citing Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, indicating a knowledgable breach of lawful orders.
