In a significant blow to smuggling operations, Mizoram police have seized narcotics valued at Rs 25.01 crore across the state over the past week, according to a senior officer.

The crackdown, conducted from March 25 to March 31, led to the arrest of eight individuals, including two from Myanmar. A high-profile operation on March 25 intercepted a truck carrying methamphetamine tablets valued at Rs 15.86 crore near Aizawl.

Additional operations in the Keifang area resulted in the seizure of heroin and the arrest of individuals from Manipur and Assam. The suspects are facing charges under various legal statutes including the Narcotic Drugs & Psychotropic Substances Act.
