In a tragic incident, an 80-year-old woman was killed by an elephant in the Anthiyur district, forest officials confirmed on Monday.
The victim, identified as Meena, was discovered by local resident Ramkumar on Sunday. Her body bore visible injuries from the encounter. She was reportedly collecting tamarind in the forest and failed to return, prompting concern.
The police have registered a case and are conducting further investigations. The woman's body has been shifted to Government Hospital, Anthiyur for further examination.
