In a frontline village near the Line of Control in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, a live mortar shell was safely defused by security forces on Saturday, officials reported.
The explosive, discovered by a local resident in the Brari area of the Sawjian sector, had lain dormant after being fired from across the border.
Bomb disposal experts were promptly mobilized, neutralizing the threat without incident. Unexploded ordnance is a recurring issue in these regions, posing significant dangers to nearby civilians, necessitating frequent interventions by security forces.
