Historic Agreement Paves Way for Frontier Nagaland's Development

The Centre, Nagaland government, and Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation signed an agreement for the formation of Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority. The Union will support Eastern Nagaland's development. The ENPO sought autonomy, addressing longstanding neglect. The new structure aims to ensure development and fulfill local aspirations.

The Centre reached a historic agreement with the Nagaland government and Eastern Nagaland Peoples' Organisation to establish the Frontier Nagaland Territorial Authority, aimed at empowering the people of eastern Nagaland.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah emphasized the Centre's commitment to supporting this initiative and assured the implementation of all agreements made under the Narendra Modi government. Since 2019, twelve significant agreements have been made in the Northeast.

The Chief Minister of Nagaland, Neiphiu Rio, hailed the agreement as reflective of mutual trust and a step towards inclusive development. For years, the ENPO has advocated for greater autonomy to address the neglect of its communities, and this framework aims to reach their aspirations and needs.
