Rajasthan Police Busts Counterfeit Currency Syndicate

In Rajasthan's Jhalawar district, a couple orchestrating a counterfeit currency racket was arrested, with authorities seizing Rs 12.20 lakh in fake notes and printing equipment. Jitendra and Rajni Sharma, operating under aliases, had been distributing counterfeit money via courier from their rented location.

Rajasthan police have arrested a couple believed to be the masterminds behind a large inter-state counterfeit currency operation in Jhalawar district. The crackdown resulted in the seizure of fake currency worth Rs 12.20 lakh and various tools used for currency fabrication, officials reported Thursday.

The arrests came after a coordinated effort by the Jhalawar Police's District Special Team and the Chandigarh Crime Police. The suspects, identified as Jitendra Sharma and his wife Rajni, were allegedly running their illegal operation from a rented property at Chandrawati Growth Centre, Jhalrapatan.

Authorities had been on the couple's trail following the apprehension of two men in Chandigarh with fake Rs 500 notes, valued at over Rs 10 lakh. Surveillance efforts linked the seized currency back to the Sharmas, leading to their capture. They are now in custody for further investigation.
